SAFE is a road safety initiative focused on improving driving behavior in the Reno-Tahoe, and Carson area in collaboration with the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT). The Northern Nevada community is experiencing increased issues like speeding, distracted driving, and driving under the influence, along with heavier commuter traffic from population growth. SAFE aims to provide a localized solution. The SAFE app combines road navigation with safety-focused features such as real-time road condition alerts, construction updates, winter weather advisories, and reminders about safe driving habits.

Unlike many existing navigation apps, SAFE emphasizes both awareness and education. The app offers detailed hazard alerts and estimated commute adjustments when accidents or obstructions occur. Our mascot, Reese Peckt the Cone, takes his job very seriously in encouraging driver responsibility through his safety alerts and reminders. SAFE encourages safer driving while building a stronger culture of responsibility on Northern Nevada roads.
